Inspired by Burning Man and my involvement in 3 years of building and working with a huge family theme camp called Fractal Planet. Becoming so involved in this project really gave me a huge sense of community that cultivated really strong relationships and a sense of family that I hadn't felt before.
By the 3rd and final year, many of us questioned the hard work and time and effort we were putting into a temporary and somewhat wasteful experience. This is what catalyzed this piece to become more then just a Burning Man painting. On one side we see the burn, which is where many experience their revelation, their epiphany. The next step is to take all of these revelations, these catalysts, epiphanies and principles, and apply them to the rest of the world in a more permanent setting. Using the innovative building, artistic vision, principles and hard work to create a functional community and event space that is sustainable and regenerative.
